Why ByteSell beats Podia

Podia charges a transaction fee on its entry plan. ByteSell charges 0% on every plan, from the free tier up, and payments run through your own Stripe, PayPal or crypto wallet. There is no payout schedule because there is no payout.

For paid communities the gating is native. Discord or Telegram access opens the moment a member pays and closes on its own if the subscription lapses, with no bot to wire up. Add a branded storefront on your own domain and a free affiliate program, and the platform costs a flat monthly price whatever you sell.

Why sellers leave Podia

The 5% on Mover applies to monthly and annual billing alike, and it is deducted from each sale before payout rather than billed on the subscription, so it never shows up on a Podia invoice.

The second cost is contacts. Mover includes 100 email contacts and the rest are an add-on stacked on the plan price: 10,000 contacts adds $70 a month. PayPal is not available on Mover at all.

That add-on ladder is where a Podia bill actually moves. The tiers above the included 100 contacts run from $10 to $1,250 a month, so a list that grows changes what you pay without you ever choosing a new plan. It is also the cost most likely to be missed when comparing plan prices side by side, since it never appears on the pricing card.

The 5% is worth understanding in the same way. It is deducted from each sale before the payout, so it never lands on a Podia invoice and never shows up in the number you remember paying. A seller who checks their monthly charge sees $49 and a seller who checks their deposits sees something else.

What Podia does well is worth stating. The trial is 30 days with no card, the most generous in this dataset, and bundling courses, community and email in one product is a real convenience that none of the storefront tools below match.
