1. Overview

Here is how refunds and disputes work for anything bought through a store on ByteSell. Short version: the sale is between the Buyer and the Seller, and the Seller handles refunds. Read this alongside the Terms of Service.

2. ByteSell's role

We build the tools that run the store, and nothing more. We are non-custodial: we never hold or control funds, we are not the merchant of record, and we are not a payment processor. So we cannot issue refunds, reverse payments, run chargebacks, or move money for any sale. Funds go straight between Buyer and Seller through the Seller's own processor or wallet.

3. Seller-set refunds

Every Seller sets and runs their own refund and cancellation policy, within the law. Check it before you buy. Refund requests go to the Seller, who decides and, where a refund is due, pays it from their own processor or wallet. Recurring subscriptions a Seller offers work the same way: they renew automatically until cancelled, cancelling stops future renewals, and whether a past charge is refunded is the Seller's call under their policy.

4. Card and PayPal payments

For cards and PayPal, the Seller issues refunds through their own Stripe or PayPal account, under their policy and the provider's rules. You may also have chargeback or buyer-protection rights directly with your card issuer or PayPal; that is their process, not ours. We do not control or take part in those outcomes.

5. Cryptocurrency payments

Crypto payments settle on-chain and are final. No chargebacks, no reversals. If a refund is due under the Seller's policy, the Seller sends it as a new transaction from their wallet. Crypto disputes are between you and the Seller. We cannot reverse, recover, or refund on-chain payments, including anything sent to the wrong address or network.

6. EU / UK right of withdrawal

Consumers in the EU and UK usually have 14 days to withdraw from a digital purchase. For content delivered instantly, that right only falls away if the buyer gives clear, upfront consent to immediate delivery and acknowledges losing the withdrawal right once delivery starts.

If you sell to EU/UK consumers with instant delivery, your checkout needs to capture that express consent and acknowledgement. Without it, the buyer keeps the 14-day withdrawal right. Getting this right is on the Seller.

7. Resolving disputes

Since the contract is between Buyer and Seller, take disputes to the Seller first. Where a payment provider offers a dispute or buyer-protection process, that is run by the provider. We are not part of the sale and we do not arbitrate purchase disputes, but we do enforce the Acceptable Use Policy against Sellers who commit fraud or other prohibited conduct.

8. Your ByteSell subscription and fees

Everything above is about sales between Buyers and Sellers. This part is separate: it covers what you pay ByteSell for the platform itself, your Pro subscription and any usage or overage fees.

All ByteSell fees are final

ByteSell charges are non-refundable and final. That covers the Pro subscription ($49.99 a month) and any usage or overage fees. Cancelling stops future billing but does not refund the current period, and we do not prorate. When you cancel, you keep Pro through the end of the period you already paid for.

Chargebacks against ByteSell

If you start a chargeback, dispute, or payment reversal against a legitimate ByteSell charge, we may immediately suspend or terminate your account and shut down your storefront, without notice. Any balance you owe stays due, and we may withhold service until it is settled. We may also pursue recovery of the reversed amount and any associated fees. If a charge looks wrong to you, email support@bytesell.io first, we will sort it out faster than your bank will.

Failed or unpaid payments

If a subscription or usage payment fails, expires, or goes unpaid, we may suspend your account and storefront until the balance is settled, and terminate it if it stays unpaid.

9. Contact
