Why ByteSell beats Whop
Whop advertises no monthly fee, then charges separately per transaction for billing, 3D Secure, fraud screening, international cards and currency conversion, adds 2% when tax is collected, and takes a payout fee when you withdraw. ByteSell’s pricing fits in one sentence. You pay nothing on the free plan and 0% on every sale.
There is also nothing to withdraw. ByteSell is non-custodial, which means every payment lands in your own Stripe, PayPal or crypto wallet the moment it clears, and no charge on your statement will trace back to a help article you never read.
Why sellers leave Whop
Whop’s card rate is 2.7% and 30 cents, which is genuinely lower than Stripe’s own list price. Then the rest of the fee page arrives.
A billing fee, a 3D Secure fee, a fraud-detection fee, an international-card surcharge, currency conversion, an orchestration fee, an affiliate fee, and 2% when tax is collected, which Whop’s seller terms describe as charged in addition to all other applicable fees. Getting the money out costs again: $2.50 by ACH, 4% plus $1 instantly, 5% plus $1 in crypto, $23 by wire.
Whop’s seller terms also allow reserves of up to 100% of funds for up to 180 days. That is a normal clause for a company that holds money, and it is a risk that does not exist on a platform that never holds it.
One counterweight worth stating: Whop is a marketplace with buyers on it. If discovery is what you are paying for, none of the platforms below replaces it.
