1. How this works
This page is where you report abuse, infringement, and illegal content, and where legal and law-enforcement requests come in. We take genuine violations seriously and we follow valid legal process. We also hold requests to a high bar, because unverified or fishing requests put legitimate Sellers at risk. Meeting the requirements below is not optional: requests that do not meet them will not be actioned.
Report infringing or prohibited content to abuse@bytesell.io. Legal and law-enforcement requests go to legal@bytesell.io.
2. What every request must clear
Whoever you are, a request has to be verifiable before we act on it:
- It must come from an official email domain of the company or entity you represent, a rights-holder's corporate domain, a law firm's domain, or an agency's domain. We reject requests sent from free or personal email (Gmail, Outlook, ProtonMail, and the like) and from domains unaffiliated with the party you claim to represent.
- You must identify yourself and your authority to act: real name, organization, and role.
- The request must be complete and specific. Vague or unverifiable claims are not actioned.
We may ask for more before doing anything, and we may decline requests we cannot verify.
3. DMCA takedown notice
If content on a store infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to abuse@bytesell.io from your or your organization's official domain (see the requirements above). To be valid and actionable, it has to include all of this:
- The copyrighted work you say is being infringed, clearly identified.
- The exact infringing storefront URL or URLs, specific enough to locate the material.
- Verifiable contact and affiliation details: name, organization, role, official email, phone, and address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for them.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Incomplete, vague, or unverifiable notices will not be actioned, and we may reject notices that do not come from a proper domain. Filing a knowingly false claim carries liability under the DMCA.
4. Counter-notice
If your content was taken down and you think that was a mistake or misidentification, send a counter-notice to abuse@bytesell.io from your official or verifiable email. It should identify the removed material and where it was, include your verifiable contact details and signature, state under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake, and consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate U.S. federal court. Where the law allows, we may restore the material after a valid counter-notice unless the complainant takes it to court.
5. Repeat infringers
Sellers who repeatedly infringe lose their accounts. Repeated valid complaints lead to suspension and then termination.
6. Reporting illegal or prohibited content
To report content that is illegal or breaks our Acceptable Use Policy, such as malware, stolen data, counterfeits, or CSAM, email abuse@bytesell.io with a clear description and location. This is also our notice-and-action channel under the EU Digital Services Act.
We move fast on real violations. Content that is actually illegal or that breaks the AUP is removed promptly and, where the law requires, reported. CSAM goes to the authorities immediately. The high bar elsewhere on this page is about verification and due process, not about shielding anyone doing something genuinely illegal.
7. Law enforcement and legal requests
Law enforcement and others seeking data or action through legal process should contact legal@bytesell.io from an official government or organizational domain.
We act on valid, properly served legal process: a signed warrant, court order, subpoena, or equivalent lawful instrument from an authority with jurisdiction. We do not act on informal emails, requests without valid legal process, or unverified claims, and we do not entertain fishing expeditions.
ByteSell is non-custodial. We hold no funds and store only limited data, so what we can produce is inherently limited. We cannot freeze, seize, or return money, because we never have it. Requests about payments usually need to go to the relevant Seller, payment provider, or blockchain.
Unless the law bars us from doing so, we reserve the right to notify users about requests that concern them, so they have a chance to respond or object.
