SellApp’s cut never comes out of the sale itself. It turns up later, as an invoice, and these four things decide how big that invoice runs.
The money is yours immediately
Buyers pay straight into the gateway you connected, so SellApp never holds a balance for you. There is no payout day and no minimum to reach, because there is no payout at all.
The fee comes back as a bill
Because nothing is skimmed at checkout, SellApp tallies its cut sale by sale and invoices you for the whole month at the start of the next one. Budget for it, or it surprises you.
No flat part, so cheap items survive
The free plan’s cut is a straight percentage with no fixed amount per transaction. A low-priced key is charged at the same rate as an expensive account, which is rarer than it sounds.
The paid plan buys exactly one thing
Advanced carries the entire Standard feature set, so its monthly price purchases nothing but the waived cut. It only pays for itself once your volume makes the fee bigger than the plan.
What SellApp charges on a sale
Every rate the calculator uses, linked to the SellApp page it came from. The SellApp alternatives list quotes the same charges in SellApp’s own words, with the dates each one was read, and says where its sellers go.
On the free Standard plan, SellApp charges a flat percentage of each sale with no fixed amount on top. On the paid Advanced plan that cut is waived entirely. Set your own volume in the calculator above to see what the percentage adds up to over a month.
It never takes it out of the sale. The full amount lands in your own connected gateway, and SellApp records its cut on each transaction as it happens. At the start of the following month it sends one invoice covering everything you sold. The fee is real either way, it just arrives as a bill you pay rather than money you never saw.
It never does, in the best sense: it never has your money. Buyers pay directly into the gateway you connected, so funds reach you the moment the sale clears and there is no SellApp balance, payout schedule, minimum or hold. Any settlement timing you do experience belongs to your own gateway.
That is a pure volume question, because Advanced is described as everything on Standard plus the waived cut. You are buying a lower rate and nothing else, so it makes sense only once the fee you would have paid exceeds the plan’s price. Its terms of service state that fees paid are non-refundable, and no page SellApp publishes says whether the per-sale cut is credited back when you refund a buyer. The safe assumption when you price in a refund policy is that the month’s invoice stands as billed.
Nothing per sale, on every plan including the free one, so there is no cut to waive and no invoice arriving next month. Like SellApp, buyers pay you directly and we never hold your money. What the free plan gives up is headroom rather than rates: 500 MB of storage, files up to 50 MB, and no custom domain until you upgrade.
