ByteSell vs Stan Store

Published
July 31, 2026

TL;DR

Stan Store is on the short list of platforms whose 0% claim survives a reading of their own help center, which says plainly that Stan earns 0% from transactions and you pay only the subscription. We built ByteSell on the same principle, so this comparison is about what each subscription includes, and there the two products part ways quickly.

Stan’s $29 Creator plan covers the storefront, subscriptions, courses, booking, community and analytics, and reserves the growth layer for the $99 Creator Pro tier: discount codes, upsells and order bumps, affiliate management, email marketing and pixel tracking. ByteSell starts free with the affiliate program and a full reseller network included on every plan, connects the Stripe or PayPal account you already own, settles crypto to your own wallet, and runs the store embedded inside your own website or, from Pro, on your own domain. Stan’s help center confirms that an embed like that does not exist on their side.

On the published rates, ByteSell Free charges less than Stan Store at every volume, at an average order value of $50. There is no revenue figure where the other one comes out cheaper.

The $70 gap between having a store and growing one

On the surface this looks like a coin flip. Both take 0% of sales, and both price their main plan at $29. Nobody has ever migrated a store over a matching monthly figure. The difference is what sits either side of it: Stan has no plan below $29, and ByteSell’s lowest plan is free.

The gap opens at the second tier. Stan’s own plan breakdown puts a respectable amount of product on the $29 Creator plan, including recurring subscriptions, the course builder, booking, community and analytics. What it holds back is nearly everything a seller reaches for once the store is working: discount codes, upsells and order bumps, affiliate management, email marketing and pixel tracking all sit on Creator Pro at $99 a month, or $948 billed annually. The moment you want to push a working store harder, Stan’s answer costs $70 a month more than the store itself did.

ByteSell’s answer to that same moment is that the growth layer was there from the free plan onward. The affiliate program is free and unlimited on every plan, and the reseller network goes a step further than affiliates ever do: other sellers run their own branded storefronts on your catalog, set their own prices, and owe you a per-product margin tracked on the ledger. Where Stan prices affiliate management as a $99 feature, ByteSell treats distribution as part of the platform you already paid for.

Whose Stripe account is it

Before you sign up anywhere in this category, check exactly whose name is on the payment account. Stan’s help center describes their setup in their own words.

you will be prompted to create a new Custom Stripe account that is managed by Stan. You will not be able to connect an existing Stripe account.
help.stan.store

The money does settle to an account associated with you rather than into a platform balance, and that structure is better than most of this market. But the account is one Stan creates and manages, and the Stripe account you may have spent years building history on stays parked outside the door.

ByteSell has no managed path, on purpose. We think a payment account managed by your platform is a dependency you will eventually resent. You connect the Stripe or PayPal account you already own, buyers pay into it directly, and ByteSell never holds a cent at any point, so there is nothing sitting anywhere waiting on a payout day or a reserve decision. If you take crypto, it settles straight to your own wallet. Your processor relationship, your transaction history and your tax position all stay exactly where they were before you showed up.

A store on your website versus a redirect to theirs

Stan is candid about where the store lives.

Currently, there is no built-in way to embed your Stan Store directly on your website
help.stan.store

The recommended workaround is domain forwarding, meaning your domain redirects visitors to the Stan-hosted page instead of serving a store of your own. For a creator whose entire funnel is an Instagram bio link, that is a reasonable design and close to the whole point of the product.

It stops being reasonable the day the store needs to be yours. A ByteSell storefront runs on your own custom domain or a yourstore.mybyte.app subdomain, with theme selection up to fully custom-coded themes when you want real control, and the checkout embeds directly into a site you already operate. You can remove ByteSell’s branding entirely. One product gives you a page inside their app that your domain points at, and the other gives you a store that belongs to your site.

What digital products demand that a bio link never will

Stan’s catalog is shaped around a creator’s calendar and audience: courses, booking, community and digital downloads sold from a phone. ByteSell is shaped around the products themselves, and digital goods carry problems a link-in-bio page is never forced to solve.

Files run up to 10 GB each on Pro and 25 GB on Business, with 50 GB and 250 GB of storage behind them. Software sells through pools of license keys delivered at checkout. Every PDF can be stamped with the buyer’s identity, so a leaked copy names its leaker. Checkout filtering blocks VPN, Tor and proxy traffic and blacklists disposable email domains before a bad order ever exists.

Everything Stan Store charges

ByteSell takes 0% per sale and nothing to pay you out, because your buyers pay your own Stripe, PayPal or wallet directly. Here is what Stan Store charges, each line quoted from its own pages with a link to where it was read.

Stan Store charges nothing per sale and nothing to get paid. Card payments go to the seller's own processor and crypto settles to the seller's own wallet, so there is no balance for a fee to come out of.

Where Stan Store is the better choice

Stan’s 0% is structural on both tiers, and its fee disclosure is the most thorough in this dataset.

  • A 0% that means it, on both tiers

Stan takes 0% on the $29 plan and the $99 plan alike, with no asterisk anywhere.

  • The best fee disclosure in the category

An itemized fee schedule per country, down to the 0.25% + $0.25 payout fee.

  • Money that reaches the creator

Funds settle to a connected Stripe or PayPal, not a wallet Stan controls.

  • Subscriptions on the entry plan

Recurring revenue ships on the $29 Creator tier.

  • A deep creator toolkit at Pro

Funnels, payment plans, email campaigns and pixel tracking. ByteSell sells none of those.

Which one to pick

If you are a coach or creator selling calls, courses and community to an Instagram or TikTok audience, Stan is a polished home, its 0% is genuine, and the Pro tier earns its price. The fee structure is the part of Stan we agree with.

The comparison tilts when the store becomes a business in its own right. ByteSell includes the affiliate management Stan prices at $99 on every plan including the free one, adds a reseller network on top, and connects the Stripe account you already own on a platform that never touches your money. Pro at $29 puts the store on your own domain, where Stan’s documented answer is a redirect. Both companies take nothing from your sales, so the deciding question is which one built the store you actually want to be running in two years.

ByteSell is in early access, so that link goes to the signup list rather than a checkout. The plans and limits described here match the ByteSell pricing page, which has the full breakdown.

Frequently asked questions

Still stuck? Talk to us

Yes. Stan’s help center states that Stan earns 0% from transactions made on the platform and that you pay only the flat subscription fee. ByteSell works the same way, which is exactly why this comparison comes down to what each subscription includes.

Stan’s documentation says no: you will be prompted to create a new Custom Stripe account managed by Stan, and you will not be able to connect an existing Stripe account. Funds still reach the creator directly, and the account on the default path is one Stan manages. ByteSell only ever connects the Stripe or PayPal account you already own and never manages a payment account on your behalf.

Not currently. Stan’s help center confirms there is no built-in way to embed the store on your website and recommends domain forwarding, which redirects your visitors to the Stan-hosted page. ByteSell runs your storefront on your own custom domain and embeds checkout directly into a site you already run.
